RE: Bill 11 – An Act Respecting Proof of Immunization
It is my understanding that Members of the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick will soon be asked to affirm or reject Bill 11: An Act Respecting Proof of Immunization.
I am writing to you in my capacity as President of Vaccine Choice Canada.
Vaccine Choice Canada is a community of Canadians who are vaccine risk aware, many of whom have personally experienced vaccine injury and death in their own families. VCC has many active members in New Brunswick and enjoys the support of many of your citizens. Our members are deeply concerned with the intention of the proposed legislation to purposely and egregiously violate the constitutional rights and freedoms of New Brunswick citizens.
I am aware of the sentiment held by some legislators that they ought to consider solely the perspectives of New Brunswickers, and that the concerns and opinions of individuals and families outside of New Brunswick are not relevant or welcome.
However, I suggest that the decision of your legislature pertaining to Bill 11 has the potential to affect the rights and freedoms of all Canadians. The intense lobbying for the removal of current exemptions based on religion and consciously held belief is a Canada-wide issue.
Further, I suggest that the Minister of Education, in his quest to impose a liability-free medical product upon all children in the province, regardless of the wishes of their parents, is being influenced by sources outside of New Brunswick and Canada.
During my time in New Brunswick in August 2019, when I presented to the Committee on Law Amendments, I did not witness New Brunswick parents actively lobbying the Minister for the removal of their right to informed consent, bodily sovereignty, and to make medical decisions for their children.
For those members of the legislature who were not privy to the information presented to the Committee on Law Amendments, I’ve taken the liberty to include my comments with this letter. I offer my summary statement here:
“Bill 39 (11) effectively gives the state the power to decide what is injected into our body and our children. This legislation eliminates the medical ethic of informed consent, removes therapeutic choice, denies a parent’s right to make medical decisions for their children, disregards bodily sovereignty, invites discrimination, and undermines a child’s right to a public education. Bill 39 (11) also removes a critical mechanism of accountability – voluntary choice.”
This is an historic moment in New Brunswick. This is the moment when you, as an ethically bound representative of the individuals and families in your community, have an opportunity to clearly support the inalienable right to freedom of conscience and religion granted to us by the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. It is also an opportunity to unambiguously affirm the autonomy and sovereignty of New Brunswickers as free citizens, whose right to informed consent is safeguarded for this and all future generations.
New Brunswick already has high vaccination rates, some of the highest in Canada, and low infection rates. There is no medical justification to violate the constitutional rights and freedoms of New Brunswick citizens.
I implore you to uphold fundamental human rights and to abstain from enabling state overreach. I ask you to thoughtfully consider if evermore impositions, restrictions, and impediments on the lives of New Brunswick families is possibly in the public interest.
